Planning a POSITIVE Dose for the Holidays!

What do you remember about the holidays from your childhood?

To me the holidays are all about moments created with my mother's special baking and entertaining in our home.  The happy memories from my childhood are the moments created around family, food, fun and friends.  I fondly remember traditions and celebrations and do my best to recreate similar moments for my children.

As I reminisce this year I am thinking about why handmade and homemade cards, crafts and food gifts make the holidays memorable!  Someone has thought about us and created a gift especially for us!  There is nothing better to make someone feel special and appreciated.

Tell me what you remember about holidays as a child and what made them so special.  Was it the food and helping in the kitchen with baking?  Was it a shopping experience with your parents or siblings that made you feel loved and appreciated?  Was there a cafe or restaurant that always felt welcoming especially during the holidays you visited as a treat?

We all want to return to the places that allow us to belong and create a positive and memorable experience.  I'm excited this year to share my new Close To My Heart business with friends and family creating amazing cards and tags to share on homemade food gifts!  I actually created the 'Ho Ho Ho' card below with the CTMH Cricut Cartridge Art Philosophy.

What are you planning for your POSITIVE DOSE this holiday season?  Will you be returning to the kitchen of your childhood home and recreating some of the special treats for your family that your mom or mum created for you?

As I return to the happy memories of my childhood this season I hope you can, too!

Handmade especially for you!

  1. Hi Diane
    I love the holiday season!
You're right my special memories involve helping to create something. Whether it was with my mother baking mince pies or helping my Grandmother make sweets for the family Boxing Day Christmas party. She would make all these almond paste special fillings, coloured with red and green food colouring and we would wedge them together with walnuts and dates! Even better we would dip mints half in melted chocolate and then at the end we could lick the bowl out!
I love your card. I am always in awe of my friends who go to the trouble of sending me a home made card, you have inspired me to have a go this year!
    Have a great week

  2. Oh don't get me started Diane,
I am like a very excitable child when the holiday session approaches. In fact it's already started for me because last weekend I went to stay at my sister's for a few days.
We hyperventilated in a huge store that has amazing Christmas stock on display and I'm not going to tell you how much I spent...it's strictly on the need to know basis ;D
We had a fit of giggles like you wouldn't believe (even having people laughing at us and the state we were in) plus later we started looking at old photographs of childhood holidays (both summer and winter) and I kid you not...I was weak with laughing, panda eyes from running mascara and the serious possibility of my lunch coming back to revisit!
Sorry that's probably a little too much information.

Gorgeous card and beautifully displayed if I might say so ;D
See you've just made my tummy churn thinking about the preparations ahead!
By the way...a lovely bio photography too.
Have a fantastic week Diane...with lots of creativity :D
